RFP contributes to the solution of social problems in cities and small settlements, provides jobs for more than 5,000 people throughout the Far East, maintains public roads and participates in charity and important social events.
RFP aims not only to enhance economic efficiency, but also to comply with environmental standards and conform to the principles of social responsibility. It is very important for us that the presence of our holding’s entities in regions encourages economic growth and social stability, contributes to the solution of social problems and the development of local communities and preserves places of traditional land use and biodiversity.
RFP urges everybody to take care of the environment. The development plans of RFP provide for the expansion of its spheres of activity in the Asia-Pacific region and entry into new markets. To underline its status as a full participant in the international economy, RFP aims to become a company combining dynamic economic growth and standards of ecologically acceptable development. The modern requirements of the world economy dictate the necessity of applying new approaches to forest exploitation and the timber trade. The conference of world governments on environment and development in Rio de Janeiro, the Montreal process on boreal forests, the Helsinki process on the forests of Europe and the international process of FLEGT have initiated the development and global implementation of methods of sustainable forestry and legal wood trade principles.
The company provides all possible assistance to the municipal authorities of local settlements to provide wood fuel to the population and state institutions, maintain public roads and eliminate the consequences of natural phenomena (fires, floods, blizzards, etc.) .
The company has operations in forest areas where forest communities are directly dependent on the surrounding environment. We take into account the interests of local communities and indigenous peoples and conduct surveys and interviews with the representatives of settlements and communities. Information about activities is presented in a convenient and understandable form to interested parties, allowing them to make prompt adjustments to projects which threaten facilities necessary to the population.
RFP supports international and national initiatives enhancing the practice of environmental management and the implementation of
PEFC voluntary forest certification procedures. For the purpose of providing for the sustainable development of the company and preserving the forests of the Far East for future generations, RFP has an environmental policy covering forest exploitation and international wood trade based on five basic principles:
1. Legality of activities
The principles of the company’s operations conform to the requirements of national and international legislation and industry regulations and rules. Compliance with the requirements is confirmation of legality, manageability, accountability and the responsibilities of RFP.
2. Ensuring the legal origin of wood products
Ensuring the legal origin of wood products is the most important condition of Russian Federation policy in the field of forest exploitation and international forest production trade. Observance of this principle classifies RFP as a responsible economic entity providing transparency in the sphere of wood production.
3. Preserving High Conservation Value Forests
- Maintenance, preservation and strengthening of ecological and social functions of the forest
It is necessary to maintain ecological balance, preserve biodiversity and the places of traditional nature management of the local population.

4. Sustainable forestry
Sustainable forestry exploitation is a special system of organizing, planning and managing the activities of the timber industry to provide for the long-term execution of economic, ecological and social obligations in leased forest areas.
5. Environmental monitoring and personnel training
Environmental monitoring allows RFP to record, analyze, adjust and enhance management methods in leased forest areas. Compliance with environmental standards and rules, implementation of effective technologies of forest exploitation, and constant training provide enhancements to the efficiency and productive activity of the company.
