September 5, 2017, an official launch ceremony was held for the new lumber mill of Russia Forest Products Group in Amursk, Khabarovsk region. The start of production was given by the President of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Putin via teleconference from Vladivostok. Mr. Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation and Mr. Sergey Bratukhin, RFP Chairman of the Board of Directors, also took part in the launching ceremony.
The company is implementing a comprehensive investment project on the organization of the Far Eastern Center for Wood Deep Processing in Amursk, Khabarovsk reigon. The total investment in the project exceeds 12 billion rubles, of which 10.4 billion rubles are already implemented. The project is actively supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Government of Khabarovsk region. It has status of “National Priority Project in the Field of Forest Development”, and is also a resident of the Komsomolsk Territory of advanced socio- economic development. The project also has financial support from Vnesheconombank.
In 2013, project first stage, veneer production plant with a capacity of 300 thousand m3 / year was constructed and commissioned. The launched lumber mill with a capacity of 250 thousand m3 / year is the second stage of the project. In the future, the production capacity of this plant will be increased up to 400 thousand m3 / year.
Taking into account the launch of the second plant, the installed capacity makes it possible to process up to 1 million m3 / year of wood in Amursk, Khabarovsk region. In total, over 900 highly skilled jobs were created as part of the project. The forest fund of the Company allows to fully meet the needs of the project for raw materials.
“We plan to continue the development of wood processing facilities in the Far East and increase production with high added value. In 2017, we began designing pellet mill with a capacity of up to 135 thousand tons. The construction of this plant will allow us to achieve complete comprehensiveness of wood processing at our site in Amursk,” said the President of RFP, Konstantin Lashkevich.
Russia Forest Products (RFP) is the largest timber industry group in the Far East and one of the largest in Russia. RFP unites a group of technologically related full-cycle companies from logging to deep wood processing and logistics. The company employs over 6,000 employees. The size of the RFP forest fund exceeds 4.5 hectares, annual allowable cut is 2.3 million m3. The company is implementing the largest project in the Far East for the construction of a complex of wood processing enterprises in Amursk, Khabarovsk region. The largest shareholder of RFP with a 42% share is the Russian-Chinese Investment Fund, created with the participation of RDIF and China Investment Corporation (CIC). All RFP forests and production facilities are PEFC certified.
